feathers, feathers everywhere.

gamecock feathers. raptor feathers. dog "feathers."
last friday the southeastern raptor center (here in auburn) hosted a raptor demonstration. we took the boys to the show. it was really interesting! everyone enjoyed it.
good grief ... is the above like father like son or what?! NOT posed!
owen had no clue there were birds of prey flying around his head, but he did chew on gus the owl and took in his surroundings via his stroller.

all the bird commotion made owen thirsty.
he is getting pretty good at drinking water from his sippy cup!
henry with spirit, above
henry with groucho the owl, whom they said was appropriately named. this was henry's favorite bird - his comments were "he's so teeny tiny mommy! he's so cute."

this is the famous Tiger (War Eagle VI) who turned 30 years old this year. wow!

on saturday gamecock feathers were a flying. there are the only two pics taken at the tailgate!
below is how owen greets us each morning ... we call it his shawshank move.
it is as though he is trying to break free from his prison cell of a crib-his hands grasp the rails, but he's always smiling!
henry before church - hamming it up.
owen helping me cook via the exersaucer and his own pot and spatula.

WARRRRRRR EAGLE! Hey!

playing around

happy happy monday!
(as a side note, we don't make it a habit of putting our children in baskets. however, they love to climb in and out of things, so this happened to be owen's turn. henry followed not long after. creative play time!)
owen eyeing henry and his puzzles
look at owen standing tall ... slow down big O. he can't pull himself up yet by any means, but likes to stand when you place him somewhere.
oh brothers. love, love, love these little guys.

now that owen can army crawl/scoot he likes to explore. the other day he explored right on over to a big furry bear, brother bricks. he started playing with his feet and laughing.
then he wanted to get a closer look at this bear. he then tried to grab brick's whiskers and give him an owen kiss. bricks, scaredy cat that he his (at 95lbs!), slowly got up and lumbered away. maybe next time owv.

go AUBURN tigers

{catching up from AU vs. Clemson weekend}
Henry helped me make numerous things on Friday ... peanut butter fudge, two key lime pies, a yummy spinach & strawberry salad to name a few. he absolutely loves to help and cooking is an activity we really enjoy doing together.
after nap time, we met gary, papa, and mr. robbie out at the tailgate for some "pre-tailgating" I guess you'd call it. it was blazing hot, but fun.
then some special folks arrived ... Allison, Madeline and Joel! we headed downtown to grab a bite and enjoy the block party festivities.
the guys took the kiddos home and the ladies were able to have some time to catch up over dessert. any time spent with two of my best friends is time very well spent. :)
saturday: espn game day was at auburn (too bad we looked like complete poo on national television. ah, the curse of game day). we timed our saturday morning on campus run so we could be there at the start of the show. it was fun!

this confused guy was dressed up as chewbaca and gary had to get his picture made with him. I'm sure he was sweltering, as it was extremely hot at 9am! anything to get on TV i suppose.
the boys had fun at game day too
later at the tailgate ... a low country boil was on the menu. good times, good food. not so good weather - hottest game i can remember since USC in 2003. it was insanely hot.
owen took his afternoon nap in the RV ... cute cute.
henry loves the bushes' dog, bruiser.
each week when we talk about tailgating he always asks "will bruiser be there?"
group photo of the core group of male tailgaters at our tailgate
madeline and henry trying to cool off in the rv. henry looked like he stepped out of the shower - all day. he IS the sweatiest human I know.
sweet madeline.

war eagle! go tigers! here's hoping auburn can hang with south cackalacky tomorrow.
stay tuned ...

chuckles

Owen and his new scooting/crawling trick (above). Henry has to make his appearance of course and you are sure to chuckle.

the first tussle between the boys ... henry not happy about owen playing with his "blocks" (which happen to be dominoes). you are sure to chuckle once more ...

19 September 2010

movin' on up ...

to the big boy bath tub. no more sling/net/hammock whatever you want to call it. owen is sitting up better and better each day and no longer needs the bath tub insert. he can sit up all by himself and wow, does he think he is big time.

look at me!

guess why I'm smiling ...

I have two new tricks!
trick #1: I can now sit up pretty well all by myself. I look pretty cute doing it, don't I? and check out my pajamas ... these are some of my mommy's favorites.
I like them too; hand me downs from hinkle are the best.
well, except those items that have henry's name on them.
mom, do you think we are going to forget our names? come on, give us some credit.
we are smart boys.

trick #2: I have started to scoot/pseudo crawl. it takes me a little while to go a few inches, but I have figured out the motions and will continue to practice daily. pretty soon I'll be zooming all around the house!
how exciting for me.
for some reason my parents are not as thrilled as I am and I just don't get it.
until next time - smiles, scoots, and sweet dreams from yours truly, big olaf.
