road trip

henry survived his first road trip to Birmingham this past Saturday. we went for the day to visit a few folks and celebrate Allison & Kevin's big 3-0. we didn't get home until 11pm that evening, so we wondered how he would do being "moved" from his car seat to his crib while sleeping. he did wonderfully! the picture above is from allison's birthday dinner at surin. I must say that I wish I had some digital pictures of Tricia, Allison and I from back in the old magnolia arms' days . . . let's just say we have come a long way from then to now be taking pictures with our beautiful and precious children! ha ha!

Easter Sunday

henry with Aubie at today's baseball game. Aubie's shirt reads "I love Auburn Moms."

my parents came to visit on Easter - what a beautiful day to make us mindful of the hope, joy and comfort that the empty tomb gives us.

thanks aunt kaye for henry's personalized bib!

for months gary has been working very hard on successfully growing grass in part of the dog's yard. today he released the hounds into their new yard . . . maybe the next poll on this blog should be how long will the grass last?

baseball game and flat stanley

henry journeys to plainsman park for the AU/Kentucky baseball game . . . thanks to april for his adorable turtle outift and hat!

and thanks to emilie for the wonderfully colored bib and burp cloth he wore in support of our Tigers

Melinda, Brian and flat Stanley came to visit. Flat Stanley came all the way from Arizona to Auburn. Congrats to Melinda and Brian who just found out they are expecting a healthy baby boy!

happy st. patrick's day

my favorite irish blessing . . . "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
henry update:
  • henry had his two month check up last friday (although he turned nine weeks yesterday). he is up to 11 pounds 4 ounces and 22 1/4 inches long. he did well with his shots . . . his little legs were sore friday, but seemed much better on saturday.
  • henry is showing no desire to roll over. his marathon "scooting" has ceased as well. so for you that voted 10 weeks, I'm thinking you may want to re-cast your vote. :)
  • he has learned how to pitch a fit. yes, a fit. when you stop to burp him during a feeding, he screams this high pitched cry, not like his "I'm hungry" cry, or his "please change my diaper" cry or his "someone hold me please, I'm bored!" cry. it's a comepletely different pitch and he even makes a different face while crying this cry!

gary & summer update (like anyone cares about us now!):

  • gary is still enjoying his job with northrop grumman here in auburn. he loves being in town and not spending 2 hours in the car every day. he is also doing some website design on the side. he is an amazing father, very helpful, and truly enjoys being with henry during the good days and bad days!
  • I go back to work tomorrow (part time). I will be working tuesdays-thursdays. My wonderful sister will be keeping henry in the mornings and we have a sitter coming to the house in the afternoons. I feel great about leaving him with these two, but must admit that Sparing you details, I am having a really, really hard time thinking about leaving henry, even for only a couple of days. I'm told time will make things easier and I'm just trying to focus on the positives. Sometimes it is easier than others.
  • Lastly, Sunday afternoons are our dogs' day. We took them out to the land yesterday to run and swim. Check out their eager faces below . . . this picture brings a huge smile to my face!

the series of henry stories continues . . .

henry and I decided to put aside whatever we "needed" to do on saturday and spend a wonderful day together. we concluded that what we "needed" to do was have lunch at Amsterdam, taking our time, enjoying every bite of the fried green tomatoes and turkey wrap. then we strolled downtown, ambling aimlessly in and out of the shops. by the way, there are a few new shops downtown Auburn that seem great! then we went to the grocery store and slowly filled up our buggy (this never seems to happen, we are always rushing in and out). we then ran home, fed the doggies, put away the groceries, grabbed some snacks/drinks, and then ventured out to the lawn at samford hall to enjoy the gorgeous weather. off came our shoes and socks, out came the blanket (and the camera) . . . it was perfect. gary soon met us there.

full tummy!

i LOVE all of the daffodils!
