weekend in san diego

this past weekend we traveled to san diego, founded by the germans in 1932, otherwise known as whale's . . . (anchorman anyone?!). Anyway, we flew out Friday to celebrate the marriage of gary's cousin, Christina, to her beau, Buddy. Gary's mom's side of the family resides in California and it was wonderful to visit with all of them! henry fared well on the flight; he cried for about five minutes when we got up in the air, but was happy the rest of the trip. he was a real trooper with the time change, later bedtimes, and crazy schedule. traveling with an infant wasn't bad at all - it just requires more "stuff" (car seat, stroller, bottles, etc.) and more patience. there is no being in a hurry.

the festivities were in La Jolla - Saturday morning we were able to grab breakfast at a local establishment and walk in one of the parks along the water. that was about all the time we had for sight seeing and such. we flew out sunday morning - it was a quick but fun trip.

there are seriously enough pictures in this post to last through the year . . . but there were so many good ones, it was hard to pick and choose.

I am in love with Henry's eyes - these are two of my favorite shots.
This past Sunday Henry was baptized. Henry received God's gift of grace and we vowed as parents and as a church to raise Henry to live a faith filled life. Matthew 12:33 states that a "tree is known by its fruits . . . " It is our hope and desire to nuture a strong faith in our son, who is the most precious and beloved blessing for which we could ever dream.

Catherine made Henry's gown. She did an amazing job - even the button holes were hand sewn. This gown will be used for any other children we are blessed with in the future and will hopefully be passed down for generations to come.

four months old for henry, eight years old for savannah

Friday was Savannah's 8th birthday. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was driving to West Point to pick her up . . . July of 2000.

Shelby and Savannah got "summer hair cuts" - Shelby looks especially cute. Savannah looks like a goldendoodle.

Also on Friday Henry had his four month check up and shots. FOUR MONTHS! Anywho, he is up to 14lbs 9ozs (50th percentile) and 25 and 5/8 inches long (75th percentile). The doc said everything looks great! Thanks to Lauren for the adorable green outfit - I love H in green.

uncle brock came to visit this week-we had a really nice time with him.

and later we tried the bumbo chair for the first time. henry "watching a movie" with the boys.

we went with brock to hit golf balls and enjoy the nice weather. this is what henry thought about his first trip to the driving range.

may day festival at serenbe

on sunday, Tricia, Cole, Henry and I went to the May Day festival at Serenbe. Good times!
