trip to seagrove beach

two weeks ago we took a trip with dear friends to seagrove beach, near seaside. this was the weekend of hurricane fay, but we actually had better weather in FL than in Auburn. we had a wonderful time.

if gary is doing things around the back yard, he will take henry outside to join him. to keep the mosquitoes away from H, gary sets henry up with his own personal fan. I think it's really funny!

Congrats to Brian and Melinda on the birth of their baby boy William Thomas (Will), 7lbs 15ozs and 21 inches long. Will is so handsome - we can't wait to meet and hold him! And a BIG way to go for melinda . . . she suffered through 26 long hours of labor and was quite a trooper.

for some football? woo hoo! our favorite time of year kicked off tonight. henry is sporting his Spartan tee and palming his Auburn football. Go Green and War Eagle!

Friendliest Village on the Plains

As some of you know, Gary and I serve on our local Lee County Auburn Club Board (see link to website on our links section). For the past few months, a group of us have been working diligently on the launch of our new initiative, Friendliest Village on the Plains (FVP for short) campaign.

What is FVP you ask?

Objective: to promote and encourage the hospitable and friendly Auburn spirit; specifically on football weekends, as a way to help visiting teams’ fans feel at home on the Auburn campus.

Implementation: through design, promotion and distribution of a lapel pin, we will help foster and grow the sense of family that is already a part of the typical Auburn University supporter’s experience. The pin will picture Aubie, who is loved by all and embodies the Auburn spirit, with a “welcome” sign. Pins will be sold (for $5 a piece) at Tiger Rags tents on game days, LCAC’s hospitality tent on gameday, at Cutie Pie, through word of mouth, and possibly at additional vendors down the road. Additionally, the Lee County Auburn Club will host a hospitality tent on the Nichols Building’s lawn. At this tent, bottled water, visitors guides, and information about Auburn will be provided to the visiting team’s fans. This will be a unique way for us to showcase true Auburn hospitality.

Current Supporters: fully endorsed by Aubie, President Gogue, and Tiger Rags

trip to visit the Butler cousins

this past weekend Henry and I drove to see my sister Stacy and her family in their new home in Greenwood, SC. gary stayed home and worked on various projects and we missed him, but we did have a really, really nice visit with the Butler family.

cousin Trip collected 85 clam shells! they are living on lake greenwood-it is beautiful, very quiet and peaceful. we all enjoyed a sunny day on the lake!

i love food, food is good.

sweet dream for henry again, with mikail. perhaps he is dreaming of fair madeline on this her very FIRST birthday. happy birthday maddie!

henry turned 7 months yesterday.

food update . . . he has tried: butternut squash, green peas, zucchini, peaches, and plums. he likes them all except green peas (he has tried these 4 times - 2 out of 4 he at about half of them).

baby food making update . . . it is going very well! it's actually fun and VERY easy. I'm now a big fan! I don't see any reason why I would stop - it takes far less time/dedication than nursing does. check out henry in the video below eating some of his food-notice he turns his feet in circles. my brother did the same thing all the time when he was a baby.

health update . . . he had his shots last week and did well. he is weighing in at 17lbs 10ozs (50th percentile - hard to believe he is "average" weight when he seems like such a chunk!) and is 27 1/4 inches in length/height (75th percentile).

talking update . . . he is really saying a lot of the "B" and "D" sounds. baa ba baa, daa da daa.

dog update . . . they are ready for henry to start eating more solid foods so he can drop them on the kitchen floor!

lastly, congrats to Robbie and Emma who are expecting a little one mid-January! exciting!

rubber ducky, you're the one

last weekend tricia and I helped host a baby shower for melinda. she is 34, well now 35, weeks and ready for baby Will! She and Brian will be moving from Orlando to Virginia shortly after Will's arrival. They will be there until May and then he will be stationed outside of Seattle. They have a lot going on right now - but they always manage to roll with whatever life throws at them with a smile.

This was Henry yesterday during his morning nap. His cuddling up with Mikail (his dog stuffed animal/blanket) had to be caught on film-precious!

bath time with the old rubber duckies. the ducks are torture for savannah-they squeak and sure look like dog toys to her, not baby bath toys. she sits by the sink as he splashes around and prays for him to throw one out of the tub.

I went to Atlanta this past weekend to help host a baby shower for Melinda - I had to leave Henry all day with his daddy . . . I was glad to get home that afternoon. No one tells you that it doesn't get any easier to leave your little one! Maybe when we are in the toddler stage that will change, who knows. But for now, no breaks are needed or wanted!

Today was our summer-time baby sitter's last day to keep Henry regularly. She did a really great job and we will all miss seeing her! Fortunately, she isn't graduating and will be around to help us on "date nights" and other occasions. We aren't doing very well on consistently planning "date night" - four "dates" in almost 7 months isn't "consistent." It's not for lack of people offering to keep Henry; we just haven't felt the need to leave him really. We should aim for a little more often than once every six weeks though . . .
